WordPress Developer – Contract | FullStack

Full Stack LogoFullStack is looking for an experienced, passionate, and talented WordPress developer who can jump in contribute on a project by project contract basis.

We’re looking for someone who has experience with the following technologies: WordPress, WordPress Plugins, PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, jQuery, CSS, and HTML. User Experience and User Interface design skills are also a plus. We are a distributed team with folks all across the United States, so this is a remote position and we’re looking for a contract developer who can contribute to our team and projects.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Development and customization of WordPress sites using custom or pre-made themes.
  • PHP application development writing custom theme functionality on WordPress sites.
  • Integration of content into WordPress themes
  • Front end interface development of WordPress themes using HTML / CSS / PHP and Javascript
  • WordPress plugin integration and development.
  • Oversee basic on-site Search Engine Optimization best practice implementation..

  • Have 2 or more years of experience working with WordPress, PHP, HTML, CSS, and Javascript
  • Are comfortable with MySQL and the architecture of the WordPress database
  • Are experienced in front-end web technologies (CSS, HTML, etc.)
  • Have developed custom wordpress themes or plugins using PHP, wordpress hooks, wordpress filters, etc.
  • Have an eye for good design and clean user interfaces
  • Are excited by the web and keep up with new technologies
  • Communicate well with others in both written and verbal forms
  • Are self-directed and able to manage your time effectively

Bonus points for…

  • Skill with other web languages, such as Ruby on Rails, Python, or other PHP frameworks
  • Experience with mobile application development, either in iOS (Objective-C or Swift) or Android
  • User Interface design skills using Photoshop or Sketch (or similar)
  • Experiencing working with Javascript MVC frameworks, such as Backbone.js or AngularJS
  • A BS or MS in Computer Science, Math or other interesting analytic discipline
  • Previous history of working with a remote, distributed team

The focus of this job is to improve the overall site design/functionality, as well as develop new features.

You will be enthusiastic with a positive attitude, able to work remotely with periodic check-ins, and available to start immediately.

Key Requirements:

  • Extensive, up-to-date knowledge and experience with HTML/CSS including current web-standards and best practices.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of building WordPress CMS websites using current web-standards and best practices.
  • Experience working with WordPress at a PHP code level:
    • Theme/Template integration and customization including working with custom child-themes
    • Knowledge of existing inbuilt WordPress functions
    • Creation of custom post types
    • Integration of stable plug-ins that conform with WordPress coding standards
    • Creation of clean, logical, well-documented and re-usable code
    • Setting and managing various permission levels for required user types
    • Knowledge of WordPress Network (Multisite) beneficial
  • Experience with Formidable or similar form-submission plug-in/platform including:
    • Custom form design, build-out and integration
    • Use of logic based, dynamic form structures
    • Automating display of form submission data on WordPress site
  • Good understanding of cross-platform and cross-browser issues

  • You’re proficient in handcrafting HTML and CSS (particularly HTML5 and CSS3)
  • You know enough JavaScript/jQuery to build out your designs
  • You get things done whether you’re working autonomously or in a team setting
  • Communication skills and the ability to explain your design decisions come naturally

You’ll get bonus points for knowing a little something about the following:

  • Version control with Git
  • Experience designing for iOS and Android
  • Experience with MVC frameworks such as Ruby on Rails
